A Cute Purse With A Good Cause

Malia Designs is a designer of beautiful and original handbags. The designers behind Malia Designs, Lia Valerio and Maria Forres Opdycke, are artists of the purse world. Their designs are gorgeous and will look great with a variety of looks. Most of them will go from day to night with ease. Unlike most designers, who realize their talent, sell their items, and go on happily with their lives, Malia Designs gives back.

Valerio and Opdycke both visited Southeast Asia and were appalled at what they saw. Women and children do not have a safe place to fall and these two creative women stepped up to help! Through the purchase of a Malia Designs bag, you can "carry a cause!" Malia Designs' mission is
Malia Designs was formed to increase economic opportunity for women in developing countries, and to support local and international non-profit organizations that fight human trafficking in Southeast Asia.

Our products are made by non-profit organizations that employ disadvantaged people in developing countries as well as small family producers. By bringing their crafts to Western markets, we can expand their access to sustainable income.

Malia also aims to help victims of human trafficking by donating a portion of our products to local and international non-profit organizations working in this arena. Human trafficking is a $10 billion illegal trade affecting almost one million people a year. We believe that one way to counteract the global issue is to increase access to economic opportunity in the most affected areas.

So, Malia Designs provides awesome, original bags, and in return you are helping a woman in need who has experienced hardships that we (as Americans) could never imagine.

I love the bag I reviewed. The fabric is beautiful and changes from pink to goldish-orange in the light. It is big enough to hold my essentials, but small enough to take it out with me and not be burdened with a huge bag (like my regular purse). The bag is made of silk and it shimmers in the light. The inside is chocolate silk and has a pocket for my cell phone and a zippered pouch for other storage.

When you buy a Malia Designs bag, you are carrying a cause. To learn more about getting involved with Malia's mission and to see more of their awesome designs, visit their website or email contact@maliadesigns.com.
